dark knight again

man. that movie was so good. we were talking about how a sequel might come about.

*warning* incredibly nerdy recounting of cartoon events

1) they could bring in a side kick:: they already did a terrible terrible movie about catwoman (which i did not watch because it was so terrible-- this is one of the few things that i actually don't even consider walking in their shoes before judging. it's just horrible).

batgirl is supposed to be gordon's daughter-- but she looked way too young in this one. so maybe. but eh. plus you can't really bring in a batgirl before you bring in dick. and i mean dick as in the first robin. (they're supposed to be love interests almost getting married, but then dick figures out that barbara--that would be batgirl-- is in love with batman.)

john brought up the idea that gordon's son was practically set up to be robin. but robin-- at least from the cartoons-- is typically an orphan boy from a circus whom Bruce Wayne adopts.

2) they can't remake the joker. it would have been great it they could have made a sequel to this with the joker again. the joker is the ultimate villain. no one. absolutely no one. can beat the joker at crime. seriously. he's the only one with a skill level as twisted and sick as the batman is clever. and i don't think anyone would consider trying to copy heath ledger and continue the joker legacy. the only person i can possibly think of being remotely close is Johnny Depp, and even he, i would think, would respect heath's work too much to try to copy it.

and as for other villains? the riddler is pretty lame, the penguin dude pales in comparison, and two face was waaaay too shortlived. first of all, i thought the mob father should have become two face-- he has much more of a sleazy look to him. no one can beat the joker! gah!

3) does anyone else wonder where they got Rachel Dawes from? quite seriously, she came out of nowhere. she's not present in the cartoons. to be quite honest. in the cartoons, (at least the new adventures of batman and superman) Bruce Wayne's sweetheart that he dreamt of being in a perfect world with was Selina-- catwoman. so i'm not really sure where they got her from.

4) they do a duo with superman. heh. that's what they ended up doing with superman. dude. that would be fantastic, a movie with batman AND superman.

despite all these plausible and not so plausible options... they really did dead end themselves here. the dark knight is still too young of a batman to have sidekicks coming out, they're not going to find another rachel dawes because they actually show her screaming and her hair getting blown away as she got destroyed, and their star player, the joker, has no one to play him.

aiya. so sad. christian bale was such a good bruce wayne. although i must admit the second time watching it-- i'm pretty sure they did digital enhancement of his batman voice. haha. duh.

p.s. does anyone else think bale is so much better looking with hair on his head? yeah. definitely not as hot in terminator...

oh and btw. i won't post anymore about dark knight. i promise

My ideas concerning the sequel for The Dark Knight:

-Is Two Face dead? Harvey Dent definitely is dead, but I keep wondering if Two Face is dead or not. The last shot that comes with Two Face lying on the floor is a shot of his coin with unburnt side up; does that mean his life was spared this time? Or maybe just that he gets to die a hero, instead of living long enough to become a villain?
-Two Face was always more of a behind the scenes villain. Also Batman's one rule is to not kill anyone. I think it would be a seriously bad ass third movie if Batman is haunted by the fact that he killed Two Face, haunted by images of him and stuff. He's on the run and he realizes he messed up, and he's trying to forget what happened. All the while, the city is once again being over run by mobs etc. And then, at the end, cool usual Nolan twist: Batman's hauntings become real, Two Face reveals himself as alive and the mastermind behind Gotham's state of despair, ridiculously bad ass final fight scene.
-This ties into the obvious third act of the trilogy. First act was Begins. Second act was Escalation. Third act has to be Redemption. Has to be about Batman becoming good in the public eye, and accepted, and this won't happen without clearing himself of Harvey's doings. Thus, Harvey/Two Face HAS to come back in some form or another.
-And since the current Batman franchise has a penchant for sticking in a sub-villain along with a main villain, bring a) Selina Kyle (Catwoman) as a villain/love interest, or Talia Al Ghul as a villain/love interest, and also an awesome way to tie in the "immortal" Ra's Al Ghul from the first movie, who has returned because he hears that Batman is "now able to do what is necessary" to save Gotham: kill.

At least, that's what I think would be cool, haha
